In the weeks and months before your wedding, you should take some time to pay attention to you and your physical well-being.  Of course, planning a wedding can be extremely stressful and sleep depriving, but the big day is all about you and your fiancé so make sure you’re at your best.

You may have a few beauty tips in mind already, and we’re bringing you some of our top favorites!

A Golden Glow

Now this is probably one of the first things that comes to mind when you think about preparation for your wedding.  And this is probably one of the easiest ones to mess up, as well.  Since sun dwelling is just not fair to your skin, faux summer glows are the way to go!  My preference is self-tanner lotions, but a quick spray tan at the salon is also wonderful.  Consider testing one out about six weeks before your wedding so you know what to expect.  Whether lotion or spray, try the glow well in advance and be sure of what shade you’re going with—and take some photos!  Then, 3-4 days before your big day its time for the real thing!  An awesome trick I always use for self-tanners: Mix your self tanner with a non-tinted lotion about 70 self-tanner/30 lotion so there’s little chance you’ll be splotchy.  If you’re a DIY girl, here are some of my top picks:

1: Banana Boat
2: Clinique
3: L’Oreal
4: Victoria’s Secret

A Perfect Wax

Being flawless and hairless tend to go hand in hand.  So, before your wedding, think about splurging a bit on an excellent wax.  No matter what part of body you’re looking to wax, its important to have confidence in the salon you choose.  Do a little research and call ahead to see their techniques to find out if it’s the service for you.  And please don’t do any waxing the week of your wedding, that’s just dancing with danger!  Go at least a week before to make sure that everything will smooth out by the time your big day rolls around.  I’m not a huge fan of home waxing (scary to me!), so here are a few local salons I would suggest:

Studio Urban Wax

Blush Waxing Boutique

Waxing The City

European Wax Centers

A Solid Haircut

This is a huge one! It is very important to have your ideal haircut and color before the wedding!  The safest time frame for a cut and color is six weeks—if it’s a different cut than usual, this gives you time to adjust and if it’s a horrible cut, it gives you time to grow it out! Also, it gives your hair and makeup stylists time to tweak any of their plans to your new look.  Take a peek at some of our favorite salons:

Matthew Morris Salon

ErgunTercan Salon

Headlines Salon Wash Park

A Soothing Mani/Pedi

Of course, this is a major beauty item as well.  Although bold and bright colors are so awesome right now, they do not always complement your wedding attire greatly.  Look into some nudes, neutrals and beiges.  OPI has a whole line dedicated to wedding day shades!  And plan on getting your nails and toes done one to three days before (two would be ideal!).  Nail services can take a chunk of time and you don’t want to stress while at your appointment so plan accordingly.  Look at a few of these colors for nail inspiration!

These are just a few main basics but man, are these basics important!!  There are tons of suggestions for what to do beauty-wise prior to your wedding, but the main rule is to keep true to yourself.  Include regimes that you would normally do like a relaxing bubble bath or your usual face mask the night before.  Keep your day true to your typical routine with just a few added perks and you’re sure to be thrilled with the results!  Enjoy!
